Farthing', struck in white metal, a double obverse striking on a thick flan, countermarked on one side with a portcullis and the other with two lis, the plain edge also countermarked with three lis, offered with letters dated 1995 from Spink concerning its authenticity and photographs taken at this time, (c.f. S.3230). Generally considered to be a forger's practice piece, nevertheless a curious item. Some surface porosity, good fine/fair

A curious coin on two accounts. The reverse die axis is out of alignment by approximately 45 degrees and the obverse die is either unfinished, or has been corroded and improperly tidied up leaving the area behind the head
